FRANKIE AVALON, FABIAN, and Lou CHRISTIE PERFORMING TOGETHER AS THE
GOLDEN BOYS IN PACKED VENUES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY SINCE 1985, has
been called "one of the most exciting acts in show business."The show
unites three exciting performers who emerged from the same South
Philadelphia neighborhood at the same time, and went on to become
world renown personalities.
Featuring three of the most popular teen idols of the late 50's and
early 60's, The Golden Boys have proved to be an overwhelming live
concert success. Countless television appearances, a special
performance for the President of the United States and a Golden Boys
PBS special have brought on a vast audience of fans, not only from the
fun generation, but all generations.
The Golden Boys spotlights each of the performers and their all-time
greatest hits, "Venus," "De De Dinah," and "Bobby Sox to Stockings"
(Avalon); "Lightnin' Strikes", "Rhapsody in the Rain", and "I'm Gonna
Make You Mine" (Christie); "Turn Me Loose," "Tiger," and "I'm A Man"
(Fabian). The three stars combine their talents on several songs and
perform a tribute to the material of Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, Rick
Nelson and Bill Haley.
Other highlights in the fun-filled show include a segment of rare
footage from the Bandstand era and a dance contest that engages
audience participation.
The idea to unite the three stars as the Golden Boys originated with
veteran producer Dick Fox who has achieved great success with shows
featuring the great artists of the 50's and 60's. "I wanted to produce
a show that had never been done before... a show that had never been
seen," says Fox. Ironically, these three stars, who grew up within
three blocks of each other, knew each other, and had major hit records
at the same time, had never performed together prior to The Golden
Boys.
