Last year, over 120 dancers from nine schools came together in celebration, love and passion for dance at the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) Dance Invitational 2018 at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. This year, Cranleigh once again is welcoming six schools for the BSME Dance Invitational 2019 to be held on Thursday 21 February - Saturday 23 February 2019 with children from Years 5-12 participating. These schools include The British International School Abu Dhabi, British Overseas School (BOS), Kings' School Al Barsha, Al Mamoura Academy, The Pearl Academy and of course, Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.
The BSME Dance Invitational 2019 will focus on pupils having the opportunity to be part of the creative process, whilst developing communication and team working skills but, most importantly sending a message to the audience through the medium of Dance. The Dance Invitational will focus on the process the children will go through, the skills they will learn, the people they will meet and the experience they will feel.
The showcase will be taking place on Saturday, 23 February at 11:15 am (for an 11:30 am start) at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. Dance pieces this year will focus on the theme, Sands of Time - footprints are not made by sitting down, instilling identity, unity and the exploration of time and space and will inspire dancers to set their intention and make their mark, on and off the stage.
