Poetry School at Grey Noise, a teaching, publishing, performance and
archival exhibition asks one fundamental question to visitors: how
does poetry come to be and what does it do? This exhibition's pieces
take inspiration from artist Jill Magi's book of poetry titled Speech,
a 5-year endeavour that explores how poetry, art and life are
recursive. While writing Speech, Magi learned embroidery, a form that
played into her understanding of poetry, and created paintings of
items accumulated from the world around her. These paintings and
embroidery are on display at the gallery, which visitors can explore
before utilising the space to read, listen and talk about poetry.
