Become a gunslinger with up to 1000 other players at the Oz Comic Con Pop Up Convention in Sydney this March!
One-Shot Western is an interactive treasure hunt that leads you around the convention, hunting for gold and braving the alleys and stalls while OUTLAWS (other players!) hunt you for your stashes of gold.
In this game you get a coin and a gun, but you can also have a Job to do that encourages you to explore the convention at your leisure, but with exciting holdups and missions alike:
MINER - Drop off coins at secret locations!
PROSPECTOR - Find Coins by hunting down these secret locations!
MARSHAL - Defend the weak from marauding bandits!
OUTLAW - prey on the weak as a marauding bandit!
Yes! Check out the video below for the Battle Royale we ran at the end of PAX2019 in Melbourne.
Last year the prize - donated by VR Distribution Australia - was a copy of Western Legends the board game! This year we will have something similar - stay tuned for more details.
Nope! Just come to the Half-Monster stall at the centre of the convention and we'll give your your gun (card), badge (card) and red bandana (actual bandana!) to wear around your neck while playing so folks know you're gunslingin' with the best of em'
From a central point, we invite attendees to participate in a fun, COVID-safe, and light-roleplay experience via character Role cards, challenging Achievements, and other props that increase enjoyment, immersion, interaction, and telegraph whom is participating in the game.
The "combat" in the game is simply walking behind someone and saying "BANG!" to alert them. Then you can "rob" them of a gold coin, which in the past was a physical coin, but in this will be merely tracking how much gold you have. All bandanas, cards, and props are single use items that you can take home with you!
"One-Shot Western is so much fun, from the props to the set dressing. Really enjoyed the way the game evolved, and how players actions were incorporated into the system.
Zac Naoum, PAX AUS Content Coordinator
I thoroughly enjoyed the excuse to rush madly through the stalls, hiding from anyone in a cowboy hat, and when I tag-teamed my hat and gun over to my friend to continue the game (cus, yknow, I cant take a break forever) he came back with an entire bag of coins!"
Stephanie Dwyer, OzComicCon Attendee/Volunteer
Worked well people coming up to out stand in search of treasure gave us time to interact with them and our products. Great Idea.
