Native Bees & Pollination - Experts Panel presentations In the context where we hear in the news and read scientific evidences that insect populations and pollinators are declining all over the world, Sydney Bee Club decided to dedicate its monthly meeting to Australian native bee pollinators. Many native bee species are specialised and less generalists in their foraging sources compared to European honeybees. Moreover their diversity helps to maintain a stronger ecosystem and provides better food security. In challenged environments which climate change is likely to trigger, the diversity of native bees seems to be even more important to know and protect. This Monday we invited 4 experts (see program below) which will present facts, research and Sydney community activities around native bees. In the session we will have real native bee nest and other habitats, live polls, native bee honey tasting and a lot of dynamic discussions! Come along to discover and learn beyond expectation! Program: * 18:15-18:30 Audience registration, social chat around tea, honey cakes and nibbles * 18:30-18:45 Intro with Q&A about European beekeeping trouble shooting. * 18:45-19:00 Interactive polling with Zeetings on native bees (Audience from their phone reply live to our native bee fact quiz) * 19:00-19:10 Lance Lieber (Landscaper, bee friends bondi [https://www.facebook.com/beefriendsbondi/]) - General presentation about Australian Native bees * 19:10-19:20 Olivia Bernauer (PhD candidate in entomology [https://oliviabernauer.wixsite.com/oliviabernauer])– Research project on Pollination * 19:20-19:40 Dr. Elke Haege (landscaper architect, consulting arborist, Sydney bee club co-founder [https://www.elkeh.com.au/]) and Dan Smailes (Sydney Native bees [http://www.sydneynativebees.com/]) present their diverse activities in the communities around native bees.  * 19:40-19:00 Q&A and discussion with audience, Topic: How could we boost the promotion of native pollinators to avoid general public to focus only on European bees? _WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!_ _TIME: 6.20PM - 8.00PM _ _VENUE: WAVERLEY LIBRARY, LEVEL 1, RON LANDER THEATRETTE. 32/48 DENISON ST, BONDI JUNCTION NSW 2022_ _TICKETS: SPACES ARE LIMITED SO MAKE SURE YOU SECURE YOUR TICKET ON THE EVENTBRITE LINK OR AT THE DOOR ON THE DAY.
