COME ALONG AND HEAR WHAT THE PRESIDENT OF THE AUSTRALIAN HUMAN RIGHTS
COMMISSION HAS TO TELL US ABOUT ELDER ABUSE.Elder Abuse affects us
all. It is defined as a single or repeated act or lack of appropriate
action, occurring within any relationship where there is an
expectation of trust which causes harm or distress to an older person
_(World Health Organisation)_._ _This form of abuse includes
financial, physical, emotional and sexual abuse as well as neglect.
We need to protect our older Australians by being more aware of the
issues, indications and action we can take. We also need to be able to
protect ourselves from this form of abuse.
EVERYONE has a part to play in addressing this issue – doctors,
hairdressers, bank staff, aged care workers, neighbours ... EVERYONE!!
