WORKSHOP: Pinhole fun! SPECIAL GUEST PRESENTER

Sat 29 February 2020
10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Ended

We are so very lucky to have a guest presenter this month: Karl Mattas! So what is pinhole photography? Pinhole photography is the most primitive way of making photographs and also great fun. All pinhole cameras are basically a box with a tiny hole, usually under 1 millimetre in diameter resulting in an aperture from about f/100 to f/500 or more depending on the dimensions of the box... pretty eye watering stuff for us who are more used to lenses where f/1.8 is considered to be a tad slow. The difference between a pinhole and a conventional lens is also interesting; the pinhole has no point of focus, it is equally sharp at all distances while at the same time being somewhat soft. The camera can be made from any light-proof box. A digital camera can also be used by replacing the lens with a body cap that has a pinhole drilled in it. We will discuss and look at examples of different types of cameras and we'll experiment with taking pictures with digital cameras equipped with a pinhole lens cap. **Please let us know what camera you are bringing so we can provide the body caps** What to bring Your camera!
