“Stories carry the meaning with emotion. Because without emotion,
you learn nothing.” - Anne Bogart How do you tell a story? More
importantly, how do you tell a story the audience wants to be a part
of? So often we get lost in the sparkle of burlesque that we forget
our primary function as performers is to tell a story. But who’s
story? And why?
This workshop focuses on using traditional theatrical methods on the
burlesque stage. From character development to the psychology of the
stage we will explore both the practical and emotional aspects of
onstage storytelling. Understanding physicality, dramatic tension, and
the importance of intention can transform not only your act, but the
audience as well.
*Please make sure you bring something to write with as well as
comfortable shoes and clothing. This workshop combines both lecture
and physical movement.
