A unique workshop where attendees learn the basics of beekeeping and ask questions about getting started.Topics covered: Honeybees and their importance to our local environment Types of bee from native to honey bee, which one is best suited to your garden. Styles of bee hive, from the Australian standard Langstroth to the unique designs of the flow Hive and Warre What's going on in the hive---Basic bee biology, learn about the queen, drones and workers. Honey and why the taste is different from harvest to harvest and how the environment shapes the honey season. Please note: Mosman Council workshops and activities are FREE to attend; however do cost money to run. If you register for the event but find you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so that places can be offered to others on the waiting list. This event is run by Mosman Council’s Environment Team as part of the Living Mosman program.
