CELEBRATE THE NSW SENIOR FESTIVAL AT WESTFIELD CHATSWOOD FROM THE 18TH
OF FEBRUARY TILL THE 22ND OF FEBRUARY. NSW Seniors Festival will be
taking place 12-23 February 2020.
Themed ‘Love to Celebrate’, the 2020 NSW Seniors Festival will
deliver hundreds of free and heavily discounted events, workshops, and
performances for seniors across the state.
With the diverse range of experiences on offer seniors will be
inspired to be active, socialise, and share their skills and wisdom
all while connecting with their community.
Westfield Chatswood is proud to be bring the celebration to life the
center for the first time from 18-22 February with the following
exciting daily activities:
TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY
- Tea & Technology by Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association
Level 4 near Cotton On
Education for seniors in using computer technology for empowerment in
everyday life.
WEDNESDAY 19 FEBRUARY
- Cake Decorating Workshop
10am-12pm | 12:30 - 2:30pm | Level 4 near Cotton On
After seeing those exceptionally decorated cakes at the Royal Easter
Show and the Stalls at Westfield, have you ever wanted to work with
sugar and make a beautiful flower? Come and join in a workshop with
some members from the Chatswood Branch of the Cake Decorators
Association on Wednesday 19 February. All materials are provided, and
you will learn how to make a basic rose plus a filler flower to take
home and surprise family and friends.
THURSDAY 20 FEBRUARY
- Art therapy by Melissa Reid-Devine
10am-11am | 11am-12pm | Level 4 near Cotton On

Art therapy is a creative way for seniors to manage pain and stress
and deal with memory loss. Studies have found that seniors who do art
have fewer doctor’s visits, better physical health, and require less
medication. They also fall less frequently. One study connected art to
decreased rates of loneliness and depression, along with better hand
dexterity and higher morale. Join us and create your own artwork.
FRIDAY 21 FEBRUARY
- Tai chi and Rouli Ball Exercise
9:30am-10:30am | Level 4 near Cotton On
Tai chi is a non-competitive martial art known for its self-defence
techniques and health benefits. As a form of exercise, it combines
gentle physical exercise and stretching with mindfulness.
- Belly Dancing with Nan and Pop
11am-12pm | Level 4 near Cotton On
Get ready to shake it in in our all ages Belly Dancing Class. Most
older students find that belly dancing is beneficial to their health.
As a form of exercise, it provides the same health benefits as other
forms of exercise.
SATURDAY 22 FEBRUARY
