Rosto Merriwa Festival of the Fleeces

*** Latest event details are yet to be confirmed *** The Merriwa Festival of the Fleeces has been a major Upper Hunter event since its creation in 1990. Established to promote the best of agriculture that Merriwa has to offer with a focus on the history of the Merino Sheep and how this industry shaped a community. Street stalls bring a festive atmosphere, and at this years festival there will be over 100 variety market stalls to sample. Taste, smell and purchase a great range of sensational products, many of which are locally grown. The festival promises something for everyone, thrilling Team Penning action, exciting Sheep Yard Dog Trials, hilarious Bush Poet's breakfast, sheep shearing demonstrations, wood carving, dog high jumping, vintage vehicle displays, over plenty of market stalls, a great way to spend quality time with your family and friends over the Queen's Birthday long weekend. The highlight, and not seen anywhere else in the world, is the Rosto Olives Running of the Sheep - with over 200 sheep wearing red woollen socks!
