In this one day workshop using zinc plates and copper sulphate participants will learn how to prepare their plates, apply a soft ground and use chine colle to add colour. By the end of the course everyone should have created a zinc plate with an image and have printed it intaglio ready for framing.
Previous experience is not required.
Etching is a rich medium where an image is scratched, drawn or painted onto a metal plate and the image etched into the plate. A range of marks can be created and, after etching, ink is applied to the plate. A print is created by placing dampened paper onto the plate and passing both through a press.
Most materials will be provided (inks, ground, tarlaton) but you will need to bring a zinc plate and some printing paper. Also bring some ideas for your print, enclosed shoes, apron, own drink and lunch.
Suitable for beginners.
Covid Safety: Due to NPWs Covid Policy - at present these workshops are limited to 3 participants to ensure we comply with social distancing. The workshop will be sanitised prior to, during, and after the class. Please bring your own disposable gloves for hygiene purposes.
