CREATIVE WRITING MASTERCLASS_WITH EILEEN HERBERT-GOODALL_
YOU KNOW THE BASICS OF CREATIVE WRITING; NOW IT'S TIME TO MASTER IT.
Returning in 2020 by popular demand, the Creative Writing Masterclass
is an 8-week program that offers an in-depth exploration of the
various skills and techniques associated with crafting excellent
fiction and memoir. The program has been tailored to help you better
understand a wide range of intermediate to advanced techniques used in
creative writing. Each two-hour weekly workshop is designed to help
you build upon your existing writing skills; therefore, prior writing
experience is favourable. You will practise techniques designed to add
texture, depth, and sophistication to your writing. Such techniques
include tapping into character to develop original and engaging
plotlines; exploring time, space and psychic distance in narrative;
creating a unique voice; and taking risks with experimental writing
techniques (by blending genres, using white space, manipulating point
of view, and more).
You will also be invited to complete a short narrative to share with
others enrolled in the program. There will be in-class writing
exercises each week and short readings to be completed at home.
