Rally the troops!Parley Australia has joined forces with Cairns Aiport
to protect our oceans. And to do that, we are cleaning up the mouth of
the Barron river to stop waste from entering our oceans and intercept
washed-up debris from getting swept out to sea again.
Dungarra, also known as the Redden Island Environmental Reserve, is of
high environmental and cultural significance. This place is home to
echidnas, wallabies, bandicoots, possums, fairy wrens, owls and of
course the numerous marine animals breading and living in and around
the river mouth.
To protect this site from hazardous marine debris and micro plastics
we are calling upon young and old, two legged and four legged friends,
individuals and groups to get together as a community and make this
morning a meaningful moment of light activity and education.
Meet our team at 8.30am for a safety brief and registration. From 9am
to 10.30am we will collect rubbish from the river banks and vegetation
surrounding the car park until we gather for light refreshments and an
educational talk.
Please bring closed shoes, a reusable water bottle, weather protective
clothing and your Parley t-shirt if you have one.
For questions or concerns, please contact Maren on maren@parley.tv or
0420614849.
See you on the beach,
your Parley Australia Crew
