This two SESSION COURSE IS TO PROVIDE BASE SKILLS FOR THOSE NEW TO THE
SPORT OR NEW TO THE IDEA OF OBTAINING FORMAL SKILLS INSTRUCTION. Base
SKILLS ARE THOSE THAT FORM THE BASE OF KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO RIDE
TYPICAL MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS SAFELY AND WITH LESS EFFORT. Riders with
more skill that can ride with more efficiency will be motivated to
ride more often, have fewer injuries and obtain greater confidence
leading to increased enjoyment from participating in the sport.
Skills covered include weight distribution, cornering, braking and
corossing obstacles. These skills are imprtant to develope correctly
as they from the base for further correct technical progress of
additional skills there after. The sessions will start on flat
grassy oval and progess to apply the skills on the trails by the end
of the course.
THE SESSION TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Session 1 - 7th June Sunday 12:30 - 2:30pm
Session 2 - 21st June Sunday 3 - 5pm.
COACHES:
There will be two Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) Level 1 qualified
coaches on the day whom are experianced coaches in both group and
individual sessions.
HOW WILL YOU MANAGE COVID RELATED MEASURES:
The sessions will be conducted within the current applicable social
distancing guidelines of MTBA and the Qld State Government. Additional
details will be provided closer to the session in line with the
current requirements at that time. Course numbers will be limited to
ensure compliance can be achieved.
FAQS
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT TO ENTER THE SESSIONS?
You need to be 18 unless your parent is accompanying you on the
course. If so parents must also be a registered participant.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
Your bike and usual riding equipment including Australian
Standard approved helmet and enclosed shoes. You will also need to
bring sufficient water and food for the duration of the session. We
recommended a muslie bar or two (or similar) for on the trail and a
minimum of a full water bottle (or two) or a camelback. You should
also bring your spare tube and tyre repair equipment.
Don't forget to apply sun screen before the SESSION STARTS ALSO!

WHAT IS THE WET WEATHER POLICY?
In the event of a session being cancelled due to wet weather, we will
provide a makeup session. We will be in touch prior by email to the
session to notify if the weather is going to impact the session.
