ALL students are required to have completed the Safe Environments For
Children and Young People Training (formerly known as Child Safe
Environments Training) within the last three years.
If you have done this training elsewhere, please upload a copy of your
certificate to InPlace where requested.
The Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 requires certain
organisations to provide a child safe environment. Organisations that
do not take appropriate steps to protect childrens safety and
wellbeing may be poorly equipped to manage and respond to risks that
may arise regarding the safety and wellbeing of children accessing
their services. Students participating in professional placements
involving children/ young people under 18 years of age are mandated
notifiers and have a legal responsibility to report suspected child
abuse or neglect.
All students who attend placement must complete the Safe Environments
For Children and Young People Training prior to their placement taking
place.
*Note: Online training certificates will not be accepted unless you
have already completed a full 7 hour face-to-face training session.
IMPORTANT: THIS EVENT IS RESTRICTED TO UNISA STUDENTS ONLY AND
REGISTRATION WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED VIA UNISA STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNTS.
