Dawson African Drumming by Upbeatz Complimentary nibbles and
refreshment More than 30 artists bring this theme to life through
both realistic and conceptual artworks, portraying insects, wildlife,
pets, birds and mythical animals. Visitors can expect to experience a
wide variety of mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture,
textiles, ceramics, woodwork and mixed media. There are photorealistic
paintings by Annette Dawson and Lorraine Brown. Textile artist Marzena
Kaczmarek showcases her abstract felted merino wool and hand dyed silk
fabric pieces. There is also some striking and lively jewellery, and
stunning ceramics. John Steicke’s quirky upcycled metal sculptures
depicting creepy crawlies are ideal for the garden. Vibrantly coloured
quilted textile art for the wall by Zara Zannettino feature a number
of creatures, including feather details, fish and birds. Victoria
Yurkova’s embroidered and beaded butterfly brooches must be admired.
If you are an animal and creature lover this is the exhibition for
you. There really is something to appeal to all including both
traditional artwork to contemporary and abstract pieces. Exhibition
concludes on Friday 20 March 3 pm.
