A BEGINNERS 'DRAWING FROM PHOTOGRAPHS' WORKSHOP FOR AGES 16 YEARS TO
ADULT WHO HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO LEARN TO DRAW. Bring along that
photograph that you have always wanted to draw and let's make your
dream a reality.
Absolutely no drawing experience needed! This is a foundational
workshop where you can learn a new skill.
16 years of age and above
WHAT WILL WE COVER?
- How to map out and draw your image accurately using the grid method
- We will look at the value scale and different shading techniques
- We will cover a few tricks that you can use to make sure your
drawing looks even more realistic (such as following the shape/ form
of an object when adding your shading, creating texture, etc.)
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
-A simple, clear A5 sized print out of a photograph that you would
like to draw (preferably converted to black and white/ monochromatic
as this will make it easier for you).
*PLEASE NOTE that we will be drawing on the print out and so an actual
photograph might not be a good idea. Try not to bring an image that is
too detailed for the purpose of this workshop.
If you have trouble printing your image out at home, you are welsome
to email it to me and I will print it for you and bring it along on
the day. You are also welcome to email me to ask whether your
photograph is suitable. I will provide a few extra images on the day
for those who would like to change their choice if they need to.
Please also be aware of the copyright of any images you use from
online. A photograph that you have taken yourself is best.
- A water bottle or something to drink in case you get thirsty
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST?
- All art materials will be provided (such as rulers, erasers, drawing
paper)
- Two drawing pencils (more than likely one HB pencil and one 4B or
softer pencil) that you can take home with you
- A simple frame to take home and display your drawing in
Please note: You are welcome to bring your own special sketching
pencils along if you would prefer to use those.
