STYLE OF MEDITATION WILL BE TAUGHT? Some meditations will be simple
guided meditation, where you simply follow the voice of the Leader,
and some will give your mind a bit of a workout - helping you become
more aware of your thoughts and feelings. The teachings are non
religious but many stem from ancient teachings of Buddhism, Hindi and
other traditions. Everyone is welcome. DO I HAVE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN
MEDITATION? Not at all, classes are designed for all levels from
complete beginners to experienced meditators and every one in between.
All are welcome to attend and will find something of value and benefit
to learn. DO I HAVE TO GO EVERY WEEK? To give more value we offer
'mini meditation 5 week courses'. Each course will have a theme and
over the 5 weeks I will use the class plan developed by SkillfulMind
to explore various ways meditation can benefit you in different areas
of your life. You can come and join anytime, however it is recommended
you attend every week. This helps keep up your motivation towards
building a meditation practice that will enhance your life and
attending all sessions will give you the benefit of experiencing
different kinds of meditations so that you can learn what suits you
best. Sessions generally run over a school term with a break during
the school holidays although extra sessions may be offered during the
holidays depending on demand and my availability. WHY SHOULD I ATTEND
WEEKLY MEDITATION SESSIONS? Meditation and mindfulness are said to be
the keys to happiness and joy. Building a daily practice can be
challenging and including a weekly session will help increase your
motivation to make meditation a habit - and stick with it while also
giving you the opportunity to share your journey with like minded
souls. HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS? Sessions go for approximately 60
mins, but don't worry, you wont have to sit still or meditate for all
that time! As a guide the sessions will include 2 meditations - to add
to your 'meditation toolbox', and time for discussion in between. COST
First class only $5. After this, the investment is $50 for a 5 class
pass which may be used over a ten week term (these may be extended on
an individual basis, just let us know) or there is a casual drop in
exchange of $15 per class. Payment via cash or EFT. Please note that
we advertise in other places so although there may not be any other
attendees here it does not necessarily mean you will be the only one
there.
