CaFHS Positive Learning Environments Workshop About this Event The
‘Positive Learning Environment' workshop provides an opportunity for
all staff to take time to think about how to best provide support to
students, new staff, graduates, other colleagues and patients /
clients so that quality learning and development can occur and thrive
in a safe positive environment. Intended Learning Outcomes Explain
how you prefer to learn and interact with people Recognise how
your learning, thinking and communication preferences can influence
how you create a learning environment. Explain the stages of
transition to professional practice for new staff and graduates –
Identify about learning principles and how they influence learning
opportunities Describe how to facilitate learning opportunities in
the work environment Explain the importance of ‘teachable
moments’ for the learner and educator Describe the importance of
non-verbal, verbal and written feedback in learning Target audience
Staff in mentor roles Content How do we learn? Understanding your
own learning preferences How do we think and communicate – how
does this impact on our relationships with people we interact with at
work? What are teachable moments? How do we balance our own
work roles and facilitate learning opportunities for others?
Understanding the learning styles of others What happens when new
staff or graduates begin their roles as a health professional in your
workplace? How can we support them? How do adults learn? How
do we provide feedback? Manager approval will be required prior to
