BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER IS A COMPLEX AND OFTEN TIMES HIGHLY STIGMATIZED PSYCHIATRIC ILLNESS. People diagnosed with this DISORDER HAVE HIGH LEVELS OF UNMET NEED IN AUSTRALIAN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.This session will provide mental health service providers within the EMPHN catchment the opportunity to learn more about Borderline Personality Disorder, share case studies (de-identified), and gain some expert insight from a Consultant Psychiatrist. EVENT OVERVIEW: PRESENTED BY: Dr Gregory Sam, Consultant Psychiatrist from Conduit Health. Conduit Health is a Telepsychiatry and Telehealth service founded in 2014 that aims to deliver specialist health care in an effective, convenient and readily accessible way for the general population, whilst providing additional support for primary care physicians. Conduit Health delivers the Consultant Psychiatrist component of the Psychiatric and Secondary Consultation and Advice Service funded by Eastern Melbourne PHN. TOPICS COVERED: Borderline Personality Disorder: Statistics and hallmark features, defence mechanisms, impulse control, comorbidity, management, stigma, management strategies, evidence-based treatment. CASE STUDIES: Participants are encouraged to bring their ‘tricky’ case studies, learn from each other, and seek some expert advice
