Details This is a TRAINING GROUP FOR THE 100KM OXFAM TRAILWALKER
CHARITY WALK IN MARCH 2020. We'll keep you updated on when we are
TRAINING FOR THIS EVENT, and we'll also have a chat with you in person
about how and when to register for the actual event, join an existing
team of 4, or start a new team of 4. We're looking to build at least
two teams of 4 experienced, fast hikers to complete this 100KM
WALK/run in under 20 HOURS. We aim to walk fast the whole way with
almost no stops, no sleep, and an average walking speed of 6km/h. By
joining this TRAINING GROUP, you are not guaranteed a place on a team.
However, we will endeavour to put together as many suitable
participants into teams of 4 prior to the official event in March
2020. You'll need to have completed numerous TRAINING EVENTS WITH US
TO BE SELECTED FOR A TEAM. There's likely to be a faster team that'll
aim to run the whole distance in less than 13 HOURS NON-stop. I
already have 2 or 3 people that fit this category but, if we've not
met and you believe you'd like to join the running team, flick me a
message with some of your recent distance and pace achievements. We
can be pretty sure there will be, at least, one more GROUP THAT'LL GO
AT A SLOWER PACE TOO, completing the course in less than 48 HOURS,
walking at a good pace and having regular breaks along the way,
probably camping overnight at the half way point. March 2020 will be
upon us soon, this means we'll need to meet and start TRAINING
TOGETHER ASAP. Once we've trained together and you commit to the OXFAM
100 EVENT, you will also be responsible for raising a minimum $400 for
the charity. Once registered, there are also cancellation fees that
you'll be responsible for if you drop out. TRAINING WILL PROBABLY BE
ON WEEKENDS AND MIDWEEK EVENINGS. If there's enough demand, a
separate, midweek TRAINING GROUP COULD BE FORMED AS WELL. Not only are
we looking for fit people with awesome endurance and grit but,
completing this challenge means we'll need to work as a team AND get
along on a personal level so, having a compatible personality,
attitude and good banter may be more important than overall fitness.
It's likely we'll form multiple teams of 4 as we undergo the TRAINING
SESSIONS AND GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOU AND WHO YOU’ll team up with
best. If you’re injured, can’t commit to the TRAINING OR KNOW THIS
IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU TO COMPLETE, we’ll need some support along the
way too, meeting participants at various checkpoints with food, drink,
clothing and encouragement. If that sounds like you, flick me a
message.
