Japanese Woodblock Printmaking

Learn the basics of relief printmaking with an introduction to Japanese woodcut, and print your very own works on paper. This versatile and accessible technique can be applied to the creation of artist’s books, textile design, poster design and limited edition prints. This class will cover carving out your image from a Japanese maple block, cutting techniques, safety, correct inking of a plate and hand printing. You will also be advised on how to hand colour your prints and introduce textures into your work. You will take home a striking set of your own prints and your carved wood block.
