Join us as we kick off Australia's first Maths Teacher Circle for two
days of practical and hands-on maths professional learning. About this
Event Bringing teachers and mathematicians together. Maths Teacher
Circles are professional learning communities that bring teachers and
mathematicians together to actively do and discuss mathematics on a
regular basis. For the first time, this successful global model is
coming to Australia and will get started with an Immersion Workshop on
22-23 January. Shorter after-school events will also be held
throughout the school year. Are you a teacher who…. enjoys doing and
being challenged by maths? is after strategies to help students become
better problem solvers? wants to learn more about maths and maths
teaching? is keen to build meaningful connections and join a
like-minded community? Then Maths Teacher Circles are for you! In this
two-day workshop you will: dive into thought-provoking maths discuss
strategies and routines that can shape your practice meet like-minded
educators and mathematical thinkers learn about Maths Teacher Circles
and what's happening in 2020. Our schedule for each day will begin at
9.00am and go through to 4.00pm, during which time we will investigate
interesting maths problems and discuss their implications for
classroom practice. Sessions will feature a range of presenters,
including mathematician Norm Do, known for his deep knowledge and
passion for maths. Registration fee for this event covers food and
beverages to keep you nourished for the two days, and take-home
resources to help with making implementation of what you learn easy.
