Course overview This course will equip you with the skills to restore
an early model vintage, veteran or late model car back to its original
condition or perhaps a slight customisation. Learning outcomes You
will learn: * how to safely use panel beating tools and equipment *
the basic fundamentals of panel fabrication and basic repairs using
hammer and dolly metal finishing techniques * panel stretching and
shrinking * body filling applications * rust replacement techniques *
and an introduction to welding and body panel alignment. Additional
information You will not be allowed to bring your own vehicles into
class to work on. However, when your skills are at an appropriate
level you may be allowed to bring certain body panels to class to work
on. The Docklands campus is centrally located with easy access to
public transport and within walking distance to Southern Cross
station. There is no parking available at the campus however public
parking is available within easy walking distance to the Docklands
campus What you receive at the completion of the course? You will
receive a Statement of Participation on successful completion of the
course. Pre-requisite & eligibility requirements You will need to have
a general interest or hobby in restoring or repairing a vehicle and a
basic understanding of vehicle body panels and vehicle construction.
Participant requirements You are required to provide and wear safety
clothing and footwear which will include a long sleeve shirt, pants
(preferably overalls) and full coveree closed shoes, preferably work
boots or shoes. Personal protective equipment such as eye, hearing and
welding protection will be supplied; however you may bring your own.
