Every Wednesday night from 7pm The Fig Jazz Band, lead by Rowan
Pattison, guitar, with Robbie Finch, double bass, and David Quested,
drums, will treat us to an evening of jazz from the standard
favourites to original compositions. They'll be joined by a new
feature artist each week to collaborate with so you'll never see
exactly the same show twice!Madelena is a bubbly singer songwriter
from Hobart, Tasmania. A versatile vocalist with a warm sweet tone
and soft Australian lilt, Madelena can often be found in little bars
playing her own tunes and covers of her favourite songs. Since
launching her single "My Lightest Shade" in September 2016 and her EP
“Scrapbook” in September 2017 Madelena has played at a number of
notable Tasmanian festivals including Falls Festival Marion Bay,
Cygnet Folk Festival, Taste of Tasmania, Festival of Voices and Mona
Foma. While studying Contemporary Voice at the Tasmanian
Conservatorium of Music Madelena found a love of Jazz and the creative
nature of the music which encourages improvisation and musical
conversation between players. Earlier this month Madelena performed
the Mezzo Soprano role in a new work titled A Tasmanian Requiem.
Performed at the Theatre Royal Hobart, A Tasmanian Requiem has been
highly praised and we are excited to invite her to join The Fig Jazz
Band for this weeks Wine Cheese and All That Jazz!
What goes better with Jazz than wine and cheese?
To pair up with the music keep your eyes peeled for wine and cheese
specials from The Fig including cheese boards, matched wine and cheese
flights, charcuterie boards, and vegan antipastos.
Enjoy an evening of Jazz from 7pm.
