TOWARDS 2030: ARE WE READY? Recent national events have demonstrated
the importance of ensuring that our critical infrastructure can adapt
to the challenges posed by extreme weather events and related shocks
and stressors. Preparation for 2030 begins now, so how do we position
ourselves to respond to the future opportunities and challenges ahead?
The All Sectors Resilience Network Forum 2019 will bring together
representatives of Victoria's eight critical infrastructure sectors to
explore the application of a resilience approach to critical
infrastructure.
The forum will be opened by Andrew Crisp PSM, the Victorian Emergency
Management Commissioner, and will centre on the implications of
extreme weather and climate change on critical infrastructure and
essential service delivery.
Professor John Thwaites, the Chair of Melbourne Water, will make the
keynote address, presenting a 'Roadmap to 2030', addressing the
vulnerabilities his sectors faces in a challenging 2030 context. He
will also speak to recent experiences collaborating with emergency
services to protect the Thomson Dam from fire and helping prioritise
emergency management resources to better protect Victorian Critical
Infrastructure and prevent negative consequences on the Victorian
community.
Attendees will also be invited to explore interdependencies of
critical infrastructure systems thorough a discussion exercise and
share potential avenues for cooperation and collaboration.
Representatives from industry and the Department of Home Affairs will
also present on lessons learnt and future threats to critical
infrastructure.
