Melbournes most respected arts, entertainment and food guide magazine
rated the AMCF as one of the top 5 events to do in summer for 2018 and
2019. With the rhythms, sounds and tastes of Africa spread throughout
Federation Square and the River Terrace, the atmosphere is electric
and guaranteed to make you feel good. With so much happening
throughout the three day FESTIVAL, it can be hard to know where to
start! We recommend grabbing lunch on the River Terrace at one of our
AFRICAN STREET FOODS STALLS AND THEN IMMERSING YOURSELF IN THE
INCREDIBLE MAIN STAGE LIVE PERFORMANCES. At the heart of AMCF is the
promotion of Celebrating Diversity and Harmony through cross CULTURAL
AWARENESS, mutual respect, education, understanding and unity, whilst
providing locals and visitors with a unique opportunity to experience
and celebrate Africas diversity. The FESTIVAL ALSO PAYS RESPECT TO OUR
TRADITIONAL ELDERS THE WURUNDJERI PEOPLE OF THE KULIN NATION WITH A
TRADITIONAL CEREMONY TO OFFICIALLY OPEN THE EVENT. To have a three day
FESTIVAL AT FEDERATION SQUARE, right at the heart of the city after
the challenges of 2020 is massive. Bringing Africa to Victoria, and to
Australia is incredible. The vibrancy of the AFRICAN CULTURE COMES
ALIVE THROUGH THE SOUNDS, sights, rhythms and tastes that are on show
at the FESTIVAL. We are edging ever closer to one day being in the
position that when the FESTIVAL HAPPENS, we will bring the MELBOURNE
CBD to a halt, because millions of people are attending the AMCF Fred
Alale, AMCF Chair Australia is the most successful multicultural
nation on Earth and the AMCF is a celebration and reflection of our
rich, vibrant Australian story drawn from all corners of the earth.
