I started learning how to track animals as a boy and have added to my
TRACKING MENU THROUGHOUT MY LIFE. I spent time with aboriginal
trackers and the Kalahari bushmen and have been self taught through a
lifetime of learning.Through the tracking course I impart what I have
learnt over the years to you, the participant.
While the course concentrates on tracking a person, the skills learned
can be expanded on with practice to learn all the different animal
tracks and the applications are many and varied.
I have used my tracking skills regularly over the years including
solving a missing person case where they had been attacked, detecting
feral animals in the nature reserves I have managed, and simply
figuring out if strangers have been on my property. I once had my shed
broken into and was able to discern that there were two people in the
vehicle and that they were known to me ie had been to the property
previously. It didn't take long to track them down. Pun intended!
Some who have completed my course include SES volunteers and police
officers who have used the skills to successfully track missing
persons and criminals. One man who had recently completed the course
had a suicidal mate that took off in to the bush. He successfully
tracked him and was able to bring him home safely.
What happens on the course?
The first day is learning all the skills.
The second day is a real life scenario where there is a broken down
vehicle and its occupants have set out on foot. The participants have
to track their missing persons until all are found, using the training
they received on the first day.
It is a moderately challenging course but very satisfying and it
appeals to the detective in each of us.
