Supporting people who experience mental ill health and or mental
distress can be challenging, in this training we explore precursor
behaviours that can sometimes lead to violence. We teach participants
to not only hold more safety and de-escalate behaviours but we also
look at last resort physical non-restrictive practices -all that fit
within the legal framework of self-defence.
This workshop is for Professsional Helpers, Support Workers, Outreach
Workers, Nurses, Welfare Officers, Mental Health Workers, Carers, and
anyone who is working with people who may exhibit challenging
behaviours.
This program will enable attendees to:
* Understand the cycle of crisis
* Learn how to identify potential triggers and safeguarding
* Create a safe environment for workers and clients
* Manage challenging behaviours
* Manage extreme emotional distress
* Apply de-escalation techniques in crisis situations
* Apply a personal safety plan
This course includes:
* Up to date industry specific research.
* Take home tools and resources.
* Catering and beverages - with dietary needs catered for.
