EVENT OUTLINE
Join us for our first EMUG Western Australia Regional Meeting for 2019
with the highly anticipated topic:
PROCEDURAL ULTRASOUND
This event will commence with a CLINICAL LEADERS MEETING FOLLOWED BY
NIBBLES DURING REGISTRATION. We encourage Clinical Leads in
ultrasound to attend the CLM. This includes FACEMs, Senior Advanced
Trainees and Medical Officers who have an active role in progressing
Ultrasound in the ED.
We will be discussing the ACEM steriliastion policy and well as
recommendations from ASUM. Michael Bogseth with discuss a 'probe
cover'audit he has recently carried out. This will be followed by an
open discussion with a focus on probe covers and differences in
departmental sterilisaion policies.
Following this, there will include a hands-on PROCEDURAL ULTRASOUND
WORKSHOP WHERE PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN IN SMALL GROUPS. We aim to
target a broad spectrum of health professionals. Although our priority
is to cater for Emergency Doctors, including trainees, we encourage
all health staff whom Point of Care ULTRASOUND IS RELEVANT TO THEIR
PRACTICE TO COME ALONG. This includes encouraging our sonographer
colleagues some of whom may venture into the POCUS field of practice
as a future 'SEED'.
EMUGs events are a fantastic networking opportunity and include an
opportunity for you to meet other POCUS enthusiasts in a friendly and
casual networking environment.
NIBBLES AND NETWORKING: A LIGHT MEAL WILL BE INCLUDED (1830-1900)
PROCEDURAL ULTRASOUND LECTURE AND WORKSHOP (COMMENCES 1900)
The PROCEDURAL WORKSHOP AT THIS EVENT WILL FOCUS ON
TEACHING procedures in the emergency department using ULTRASOUND
GUIDANCE, specifically ULTRASOUND GUIDED VASCULAR ACCESS. We will
focus on out-of-plane technique for IV access and in-of-plane
technique for common nerve blocks. We will be giving a short
introductory lecture followed 2 rotations of 45 minutes at 2 stations
focusing on out or in plane techniques with a 15 minute introduction
of anatomy and technique followed by 30 minutes of hands on
scanning. It will be taught by industry leaders and allow the
opportunity for networking and discussion to answers any questions you
may have.
