DOORS 12.30PM // KITCHEN OPENS 12.30PM // SHOW STARTS 1PM We Prefer to
swing - A Mark Morand Production The third edition of "We Prefer to
Swing" is set to be another brilliant afternoon of swing dancing and
general revelry. There is a small number of great-value ‘very early
bird’ tickets to be snapped up - but you’ll have to be quick!
We've refreshed the band line-up, removed many of the tables to
maximise the floor space for dancers - and, in fabulous news, we’re
holding a very exciting dance competition...here’s what to expect.
Jennifer Salisbury's Swingin' Elixir Well-known and well-loved on the
Melbourne swing circuit for over a decade, we re-booted The Swingin'
Elixir in 2023 with long-time vocalist Jennifer Salisbury at the helm
of a brand-new line-up . The Swingin' Elixir will have you on the
dance floor from very first “1,2, you know what to do”! The
Shuffle Club Their style is most easily described as a hot blend of
jazz, swing, blues and boogie. But that hardly does justice to The
Shuffle Club's raw energy and enthusiasm – the kind that will bring
you to your feet and on to the dance floor before you even quite know
what is happening! 32 Bars This fabulous production brings brand new
swingin' tunes to life from Melbourne composer and producer Mark
Morand. With three sensational vocalists and a red hot 7-piece band,
the dancing is irresistible – and we promise you’ll be humming
these brilliant melodies when you wake up on Sunday morning. DJ Rusty
Popular swing DJ Rusty will keep the beats pumping between sets.
Dance-off! We’re holding a dance competition for couples who’d
like to invent a set of moves for the brand-new single from 32 Bars,
“Bliss”. Here’s what to do for your chance to win the $200
Couple’s First Prize: - subscribe to markmorand.com to receive news
about the competition, and all of our events - watch and listen to
“Bliss” on the 32 Bars Youtube Channel, on or after Monday 10
March - invent an inspiring set of moves that others could copy -
showcase your sequence with other competitors during our set Judges
will be Jennifer Salisbury, DJ Rusty, and a representative from the
Brunswick Ballroom. There is a $200 cash prize for the winning couple,
plus a 32 Bars merch pack each. The winners will be invited to be
spotlighted dancers to feature in a future 32 Bars video! There will
be consolation prizes for second and third place, and a merch pack for
everyone who has a go. Solo dancers are most welcome to participate,
of course! But we’d like the winning moves to feature interaction
between two dancers, as the song is quite romantic. Full terms and
conditions are here. It’s quite brief - but please read them so you
know what we are looking for! And finally… People under 18 in the
company of adults are welcome to attend We Prefer to Swing! Please
note that tickets are required for anyone over the age of six.
