APR TUES Drawing Fundamentals (The Basics and Beyond) - Calgary, AB 2025

Everything starts with drawing! Drawing is all about looking, making a mark and learning how to refine that mark to express emotion and re-create a reality or feeling. Using Aliki's Seven-Step system, students gain an understanding of drawing fundamentals while exploring a wide variety of media (e.g., pencil crayon, oil and chalk pastel, tempera paint, charcoal, ink). During the 8 week course, student artists practice different styles of drawing from realistic to abstract. This homeschool class is geared to children and youth who are beginning their artistic journey, as well as drawing enthusiasts without prior formal drawing instruction. Theory and technique are well balanced with demonstration and practice allowing students (ages 7 and older) to create finished works of art. Class size is limited to 10 students with 1 teacher and 1 assistant which allows for ample individual instruction. A variety of projects are offered to match the student's age and level.
