Metro Vancouver REGIONAL PARKS IS LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON THE
PRESENCE OF ROUGHSKIN NEWTS IN BELCARRA REGIONAL PARK.With group
volunteer opportunities limited due to current COVID-19 safety
measures we’re developing ways for you to continue to help REGIONAL
PARKS. If you’re in BELCARRA REGIONAL PARK BETWEEN FEBRUARY 8TH AND
MAY 30TH WE WANT YOU TO RECORD AND UPLOAD YOUR OBSERVATIONS OF
ROUGHSKIN NEWTS USING INATURALIST. Join the following project to
record and see all observations:

Please include the following information in your observation:
• Photo (DO NOT TOUCH OR DISTURB)
• Exact location (please do not obscure location and please stay on
trails)
• Alive or Dead
• Direction of travel
• Recent weather conditions (e.g.: rainfall within 24 hours)
Your information will help us better manage the parks natural
resources for these unique and charismatic species. Roughskin newts
are incredibly sensitive and are extremely toxic (defense mechanism)
so please DO NOT TOUCH OR DISTURB them while making your observations
for both the safety of the newts and yourself.
Please follow all provincial health orders and COVID safety guidelines
while in regional parks.
