MONSIGNOR OWEN KEENAN

Msgr. Owen Keenan is currently the pastor of Merciful Redeemer Parish in Mississauga. He joined the parish in January 2017 from Rome where he obtained his Doctorate in Canon Law and where he was assigned to the Secretary of State at the Vatican (English Section).

He was named a Chaplain of His Holiness in 2015.

Msgr. Owen was born in Edmonton, Alberta, to Owen Sr. and Carmel Keenan. He moved to Toronto when he was 13 and he graduated from St. Michael's College of the University of Toronto. He attended St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto and was ordained a priest in 2002.

He has served as an Associate Pastor at St. Ignatius of Loyola (Mississauga) and St. Michael’s Cathedral (Toronto). Prior to his work in Rome he was Pastor of St. John the Evangelist (Toronto).

A major impetus for Msgr. Owen's vocation came when he attended World Youth Day in Manila, Philippines in 1995. This experience greatly impacted him so much so that he returned to the Philippines to teach philosophy.
