Nigra Iuventa en collaboration avec le Centre culturel Georges-Vanier vous convient à une présentation de l’artiste Moridja Kitenge Banza dans le cadre de l'exposition Je sais pourquoi chante l'oiseau en cage .

L'activité débutera par une visite commentée par l'artiste Moridja Kitenge Banza autour de sa nouvelle série d'autoportraits intitulée Je crois savoir comment il me voit. S'en suivra une discussion sur la stigmatisation de la santé mentale dans les sociétés africaines contemporaines avec les commissaires de l'exposition.
Moridja Kitenge Banza [né en 1980, Kinshasa, R.D.Congo] est un artiste canadien d'origine congolaise. Il est diplômé de l'Académie des Beaux-arts de Kinshasa (1999) et de l'École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Nantes Métropole en France (2008). En 2010 il reçoit le 1er prix de la Biennale de Dakar pour a vidéo Hymne à nous et son installation de 1848 à nos jours. Son travail a été présenté en France au Musée Dauphinois, au Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde au Danemark, à la Arndt Gallery et la Ngbk à Berlin en Allemagne, à la Galerie de la fondation Attijariwafa bank au Maroc, au National Arts Festival in Grahamstown en Afrique du Sud ainsi qu'à la Galerie Joyce Yahouda à Montréal.

Nigra Iuventa in collaboration with the Centre culturel Georges-Vanier invites you to a presentation by the artist Moridja Kitenge Banza as part of the exhibition "I know why the caged bird sings".

The activity will begin with a guided tour hosted by the artist Moridja Kitenge Banza around his new series of self-portraits entitled I think I know how he sees me. This will be followed by a discussion on the stigmatization of mental health in contemporary African societies with the curators of the exhibition.
Moridja Kitenge Banza is a Canadian artist of Congolese origin, born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He graduated from the Académie des beaux-arts de Kinshasa and l’École supérieure des beaux-arts de Nantes Métropole. His practice interrogates the history, memory and identity of the places he inhabits or has formerly inhabited, particularly the place he occupies within them. His projects consist of paintings, installations, photographs, drawings and videos. In 2010, he received the first prize at the Dakar Biennale for the video Hymne à nous and his installation De 1848 à nos jours. His work has been presented at the Musée Dauphinois (France), at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Roskilde, Denmark), at the Arndt Gallery and nGbK (Berlin, Germany), at the Biennale de Casablanca (Morocco), at the Fondation Attijariwafa Bank (Morocco), at the Fondation Blachère (France), at the National Arts Festival de Grahamstown (South Africa) as well as the Joyce Yahouda Gallery (Montre
