Cyprus Independence Day is celebrated since 01 October 1960 when Cyprus gained independence from the British and the creation of Cyprus as an independent and democratic state. The day includes festivals and parades of schools and the military, including the display of tanks and other armories. At the end of the day, a special open event is held at the President's Palace. This is truly a must-see event.
