The story of the stage version of the film Ucho, which was written by
the author’s daughter Lenka Procházková, is based on the story of
the film itself. It takes place in the 1960s in the villa, when the
regime confiscated the original owners to accommodate its cadre
support to its luxury. After the presidential reception, where the
unclear signs of the forthcoming power changes will be heard, the
married couple of two ambitious parsons will be promoted to the elite
of the state, making it the terrible night of truth. The more relative
power, the more fear. The more the truth tries to hide from the
ubiquitous eavesdropping “ear”, the more the truth comes out about
the marital relationship and the characters of the Deputy Minister and
his functionary mistresses and their human and professional
competence, the legitimacy of their union, the legitimacy of their
social status, and the legitimacy of the whole profitable mode.
