Let's meet at the entrance gate to Gunnersbury Cemetery for a walk around it to look for the graves of Polish people who found their resting place here and to see and hear the story of the Katyn Memorial. Then, walking along Gunnersbury Avenue, past St Dunstan's Church and The International School of London, we will enter the extensive Gunnersbury Park to walk through it towards the two impressive mansions and the cafe by The Round Pond. We will look at the results of extensive restoration work, the community garden with artwork created by artists Carrie Reichardt and Karen Wydler known to us from our previous walks. We will talk about the history of the estate, its royal connections and the famous Rotschild family who sold it to the borough. There will still be enough time to visit the free museum at the Large Mansion and to explore more of the park. Acton Town Station is a short walk from the park main gate.
