Join us at the Petit Miracle Interiors shop in the West12 shopping centre, London, Shepherds Bush and learn from our experienced team how to re-upholster a drop-in seat using traditional methods. Learn a new skill and help a small charity.

We work in a small group (around 5 people per workshop) so the session will be tailored to your skill level and experience. You can bring in your own chair to work on, or, work on one of ours (if you want to take it home there is an additional charge, chairs usually range from £15-£40).

The session will cover the following:

• The different tools used for traditional upholstery: How to handle tools correctly to avoid damage to yourself and the furniture
  • Upholsterers Magnetic Hammer
  • 13mm Improved Tacks
  • 10mm Improved Tacks
  • Regulator
  • Web Strainer (Bat & Peg)
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Beech Wood Mallet
  • Cranked Ripping Chisel
  • Pliers
  • Curved Upholstery Needle/Bayonet Spring needle
• Know the use for each tool and which material is used for each step 
• Understand  and gain an appreciation for the different materials used:
• • Jute Webbing
  • 12oz Hessian
  • Coconut Fibre/Coir
  • Nylon Buttoning Twine
  • Calico
  • Skin Wadding
  • Top Fabric (please bring your own. We have a limited supply that you can purchase from our store)
• Understand the each step and each layer involved in the upholstering process
•   

 At the end of the session you will have gained an understanding of all the stages required when reupholstering a drop-in seat, and, you get to take home it home with you and show off to all your friends and family.

£150 per person. This includes all tools and materials however, please supply your own drop-in seat and top covering. 

Please note:  If you cannot source a chair with drop-in seat, we can supply you with a one for an additional charge (£15-£40 depending on the chair chosen) and you will require approximately 1 metre of upholstery weight fabric for your top covering.  We have limited supply to choose from and is £20 per metre.
