Dream Theater
Progressive metal band Dream Theater formed in 1985 under the name Majesty by John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy. Though a number of lineup changes followed, the three original members remained together, along with James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess, until September 2010, when Mike Portnoy left the band. In October 2010, drummer extraordinaire Mike Mangini joined.
To date the band have sold over 12 million records worldwide. They received their first-ever Grammy nomination for 'On The Backs Of Angels' for the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 2012 then a second nomination in the same category in 2013 for the single 'The Enemy Inside'. 2017 saw them mark the 25th anniversary of their highest selling album; 1992's 'Images And Words', which was certified gold.
