Black History Month Bristol is proud to announce that prominent historian, broadcaster and film-maker, David Olusoga will be delivering a flagship lecture. Having most recently presented Civilisations and A House Through Time, he will be returning to his focus on the forgotten history of black people in Britain in an seminal and transforming lecture.

Following the critical success of his BBC Two Series Black and British: A Forgotten History and accompanying book of the same title, David Olusoga explores as far back as Roman Britain as he surveys the historical relationship between the British Isles and the people of Africa.

In a thus far overlooked history, Olusoga delivers an insightful and uncompromising dissection of the role that black people have played in British history, revealing how it is woven into the cultural and economic fabric of Britain. From stately homes to street names, he shows how black and white Britons have been closely connected for centuries.

This is an inclusive event and anyone who wants to celebrate Black History Month is welcome to attend.
