We’re excited to kick off our series of workshops exploring speciality print techniques with our very first Foiling Masterclass!
Foiling is a specialised technique which involves adhering a thin layer of metallic foil to a fabric. You’ll work with a design of your choice which we’ll pre-exposed onto a screen before the workshop. That means we’ll need you to email your artwork to us at least 3 days before the workshop as there will be no time to prep screens in the session.
You’ll start by screen printing standard ink in a colour of your choice onto either fabric, tote bags or a cushion cover. Once the first layer is dry you’ll be shown how to print a second layer of glue before the really fun bit – applying the foil.
Everyone will leave with a tote bag, cushion cover or length of fabric printed and foiled with their own design. Though we supply natural totes and cushion covers and white fabric you are more than welcome to bring your own fabric to the session – denim, for example, works really well with this technique. If are planning on doing this please email hello@3rdrailprintspace.co.uk with details of the fabric type so we can confirm it’s suitable.
