This REVISION CONFERENCE WILL PROVIDE 2ND YEAR STUDENTS THE
OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN A GREATER INSIGHT INTO THE REQUIRED EXAM TECHNIQUE
FOR THE OCR A LEVEL LAW SPECIFICATION, receive REVISION TIPS AND HEAR
FROM SPECIALISTS AND EXAMINERS WITHIN THE FIELD.Sessions will include;
MAXIMISING YOUR MARKS
Dr Amy Elkington, Senior Lecturer of Law at the University of
Chichester
This session will focus on how to approach each type of exam question
and share revision tips.
Amy has spent the past 15 years teaching Law to A level and
undergraduate Law students. She has also worked as a Principal
Examiner for OCR and is the current OCR Law Subject Specialist
trainer.
PAPER ONE: LEGAL SYSTEM AND CRIMINAL LAW
David Lycett, Curriculum Leader of Humanities and Head of Law at
Portsmouth College
This session will give an insight from an examiner into revision
strategies and how to effectively tackle the breadth of content in
paper one.
David has eight years’ experience of teaching A level Law and is an
OCR examiner for Paper One: Legal System and Criminal Law.
He has a first in LLB Law from the University of Manchester and a
Masters in Education from the University of Portsmouth.
PAPER TWO: LAW MAKING AND TORT LAW
This session will give key revision tips covering topics and cases for
paper two.
Dr Amy Elkington, Senior Lecturer of Law at the University of
Chichester
Amy spent several years as the Principal Examiner for Tort under the
previous OCR specification and now teaches Tort at the University of
Chichester
PAPER THREE: HUMAN RIGHTS OR CONTRACT
_This session will be split into two different sessions: Contract Law
and Human Rights Law (you will choose one when booking)_
Human Rights Speaker : Lianne Barton, Teacher of Law at Brighton, Hove
and Sussex Sixth Form College.
Lianne has been teaching Law for nine years to A-level and BTEC
students and has worked at colleges in both London and Brighton. She
has also been an examiner for OCR both on the new and legacy
specifications.
Contract Law Speaker : Lizi Mutter, Contract Law Lecturer and In-House
Paralegal at the University of Chichester.
Lizi has worked as a Paralegal for the University for two and a half
years and is currently completing her Legal Practice Course and
Masters in Law, Business and Management. She is also been an Associate
Lecturer at the University of Chichester, teaching Contract Law to
undergraduate students.
_Refreshments will be provided at break times._
_Lunch not provided however attendees can bring their own or there
will be opportunity to purchase lunch in our on campus restaurant,
coffee shop or student shop._
