SHORT DESCRIPTION:
WE TAKE AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT HOW TO MANAGE THE IMPACT OF BEREAVEMENT
AND RELATIONSHIP LOSS. LOOKING AT OUR OWN SELF-CARE, WHILST WORKING
WITH LOSS.
THE COURSE IS DESIGNED TO GIVE YOU PRACTICAL GUIDANCE ON HOW TO BE
ALONGSIDE GRIEF. THEY ARE GROUNDED IN KNOWLEDGE AND PERSONAL
EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN THIS AREA AND USES SKILLS, EXERCISES AND
CREATIVE TOOLS WHICH CAN DEEPEN INSIGHT AND ARE ENJOYABLE.
WORKING IN THIS AREA, BEING ALONGSIDE POWERFUL EMOTIONS CAN BE
CHALLENGING AND TRIGGERING WE WILL HIGHLIGHT THE SIGNIFICANCE AND THE
IMPORTANCE OF SELF-CARE IN ORDER FOR YOU TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN RESOURCES
IN WORKING WITH GRIEF.
PLUS WE ALSO HOPE YOU WILL HAVE SOME FUN!
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Models/theories of grief (latest thinking research based)
- Loss within the family using a family sculpt
- Genograms working with in relation to loss
- Self-care/Use of Supervision
KEY BENEFITS:
- Participants will gain knowledge that is research based, to inform
their practice
- Knowledge of the practical matters relating to a death that are
usually only discovered when we experience our own loss.
- Self-care and being alongside powerful emotions
- Ideas to support working creatively in this area.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
This CPD workshop is open to anyone who is interested in the subject
matter, wants to develop their skills and expand their knowledge. This
workshop is particularly aimed at professionals working in a health
care setting, counsellors, student counsellors, psychotherapists,
occupational therapists, case managers, social care workers and those
in helping professions who work therapeutically with others.
ABOUT THE TUTORS:
TRACEY GIBSON - INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLOR, MBACP
Tracey is an experienced Cruse Bereavement volunteer, Supervisor and
Integrative Counsellor (MBACP) and an accredited professional of The
Foundation for Infant Loss Training. Throughout her career she has
been involved in delivering training to professionals, which she now
combines with her private therapy practice.
ALISON HUXTABLE MBACP, CPCAB, IIPA
Alison has been a volunteer with Cruse for over 10 years. She is a
Cruse Supervisor / Trainer and co-writer of their national training
materials. Alison also trains others as an independent tutor, teaching
CPCAB courses at levels 4,5 and 6, which she combines with her private
psychotherapy practice
Alison and Tracey share their knowledge and skills in the tranquil
Exmoor setting of Ravenholme training. Writing and delivering bespoke
training solutions, working with organisations to meet their specific
requirements.

the last 14 days or potentially been in contact with anyone who has
had or displayed symptoms within the last 14 days.
- Please adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times ensuring
to keep 2 meters distance at least.
- Do not share stationary or tools these should be kept for individual
use.
- All paperwork to be signed and sent electronically only.
- Use hand wipes, gels or other sanitisers provided.
- Ensure any equipment you are bringing on site has been cleaned and
disinfected prior to coming onto site.
- Please wash your hands on a regular basis.
- Please cough, sneeze or blow your nose into tissues and dispose of
these immediately, if none are available please cough or sneeze into
your elbow and wash immediately.
- Use any PPE required as per the sites rules.
- We will be sending all attendees a COVID-19 Pre-Visit Declaration
Form prior to the event.
THIS IS AN 'IN PERSON' WORKSHOP, BASED AT IRON MILL'S VENUE IN EXETER.
THE RUNNING OF THIS WORKSHOP AS AN 'IN PERSON' WORKSHOP IS DEPENDENT
ON THE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES IN PLACE
AT THE TIME OF THE WORKSHOP DATE. IF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ARE SUCH
THAT THE WORKSHOP CANNOT GO AHEAD IN PERSON, IT WILL EITHER BE
POSTPONED OR MOVED ONLINE. IF THIS HAPPENS, ALL DELEGATES WILL BE
CONTACTED AND OFFERED THE CHOICE TO RE-BOOK OR RECEIVE A REFUND. WE
WILL REVIEW ARRANGEMENTS 2 WEEKS' BEFORE THE EVENT AND INFORM YOU OF
ANY CHANGES.
