Celebrating The International Jazz Day with Lulu Pierre and Marvin
Muoneké It Takes Two: Lulu Pierre and Marvin Muoneké revisit the
great jazz duets Sarah Vaughan & Billy Eckstine, Ella & Louis, Ray
Charles & Betty Carter – jazz has a rich history of romantic and
swinging duets. Stellar vocalists Marvin Muoneké and Lulu Pierre
recreate some of the greatest of these duets with the Alex Webb Trio.
Marvin Muoneké has been dubbed 'The Young Man with The Old Soul’
and once you hear his voice and style, you'll understand why. With a
rich, velvety voice that’s been likened to Nat 'King' Cole, Johnny
Hartman, Paul Robeson and Billy Eckstine, Marvin is also a gifted
songwriter, arranger and trumpet player. Lulu Pierre was hailed as
‘Something new and exciting' by Jazz in Europe. A classic Torch
Song stylist with the sass of Nancy Wilson and the swing of Sarah
Vaughan, she has a knack for heartbreaking ballads too. A striking
and chic figure on stage, Lulu has a rich mezzo-soprano capable of
conveying deep emotion one moment and swinging hard the next.
