Rob Heron and Tom Cronin: Live in the GCT Garden

Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra dont care what genre you choose to put them in Western Swing, Blues, Country, Rock & Roll or whatever else as long as you understand that theyre 100% sincere and 100% immersed in this stuff.

This is no lazy pastiche, no dressing up box. They live and breathe this music and want you to get immersed with them. The Tea Pad are eight years into a remarkable story that began with four friends studying at Newcastle University and now sees them playing venues and festivals across the UK and mainland Europe.

Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne but with members hailing from Orkney to Warwickshire, the Tea Pad sound draws on myriad influences from Hank Williams to Django Reinhardt, Tom Waits to The Beatles yet ultimately sounds like nobody else, that North Eastern Swing style thats utterly their own and changing all the time. Usually a six piece band, for the Summer Streets live stream, Rob is joined by the band's mandolin and harmonica player, Tom Cronin.

You can come down and see them in a safe, socially distanced environment by reserving a table for up to 6 people from no more than two different households. Our staff will serve you drinks to and from your table so can concentrate on enjoying this free gig and get used the 'the new normal'.

What to expect from your visit

Entering and exiting the building

We will be operating a one way system on the evening. Whether you drive, walk or get public transport to GCT, please enter the building via our main entrance on the side of the building, you will be greeted by a member of staff who will show you through our Studio to the garden where your table will waiting for you.

To access the toilets or leave the venue, please leave via the garden gate and re-enter the building again via the main entrance.

Toilets and Bar

We will only have our accessible toilet available for the evening to help manage social distancing. Our bar will be running a drinks menu for the evening and we will be running table service for the duration of the event.

Hygiene and Safety

Safety and confidence of you and our staff is the most important to us so we have put in the following procedures in place to assure you we are making GCT the safest it can be:

1. There are hand sanitising stations throughout the building and our staff will be undertaking regular cleaning of public areas.
2. On top of the aforementioned one-way system, we will be maintaining social distancing of at least 1m at all times.
3. Tables are limited in the garden to allow for the safest distance between each audience member and artists.
4. We encourage contactless card payments where possible to limit the exchange of cash.

Please arrive at the venue for 5pm to be seated. The performance will take place outside, in our garden, and will begin at 5.30pm and will finish around 6.30pm. The event will conclude at 7pm.
