This course is a simple foraging walk where we will identify a number of edible and poisonous wild mushrooms, fruits and plants.
Chantry Woods’ 200 acres of woodlands are home to British Oak, Ash, Beech, American Redwood and Fir to name but a few, making it ideal for Autumn foraging. Being on the outskirts of Guildford it can be easily reached from Farnborough, Aldershot, Woking, Leatherhead and Horsham.
We will meet at the car park at 12pm. The course starts there with a 20 minute introduction on how to forage safely and sustainably, and a brief of the general countryside codes where they relate to foragers.
Then we’ll set off for a roughly 2.5 hour walk around the stunning Bathurst Estate identifying the different edible and poisonous plants, fruits and mushrooms that we come across. We then discuss and taste our finds over a light lunch.
Ideal for both the total novice and the intermediate forager looking to improve their knowledge, it is also an ideal family outing!
