Meet some of LIVERPOOL'S BEST AND LEAST-known PUBLIC WORKS OF ART,
including works by some pre-eminent 20th and 21st Century artistsA
circular walk exploring some of Liverpool's best and least-known
public works of art by some of Britain's pre-eminent 20th and 21st
century artists.
Liverpool's abundance of public art provides a series of curious
encounters for locals and visitors to the city alike. Many of the
works commemorate historic events in the life of this cosmopolitan
city, whilst others are more esoteric and conceptual pieces - they
serve as invitations to contemplate and consider wider issues. Join Ed
Willams, Art and Architectural Historian, as he introduces us to the
work of major British figures in the field of sculpture including
Jacob Epstein, Philip King, Dame Barbara Hepworth and Dame Elizabeth
Frink together with less well-known artists whose artworks challenge
pre-conceived ideas about fine art and the role of the arts in
engaging the wider public.
