Drop-in TRE Tension Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises SessionsYour body already has an amazing reflex mechanism to relieve stress and trauma. It's shaking TRE as a method is relatively new, but shaking as a body’s way to release stress and trauma is as old as humankind. Unfortunately the more we evolve the less we trust in our bodies’ wisdom to naturally self regulate. Nowadays shaking is seen as a sign of weakness and most of us very effectively learnt to control and suppress it. Trauma, bottling up stress or "grin and bear it" attitudes result in muscular tension and contraction of the whole system. The more tension we hold in our bodies the more danger alert signals are conveyed to the brain and it can get stuck in defensive strategies. Even if there is no immediate danger, we are constantly tense, alert and ready to fight, flee or freeze. Our nervous system is in a state of dis-balance and our body in a state of dis-ease as rest, growth and repair functions are supressed. During TRE sessions we create a safe space and provide supportive guidance for you to bring the shaking reflex back on-line, befriend the tremors and explore their ability to assist your body to release deep patterns of held tension and discharge stress. To activate the tremors we will do a sequence of 7 simple exercises to stretch and fatigue certain muscles. The shaking is involuntary but you will be in control of your process. The experience is very individual and it doesn’t really matter how you shake. In TRE we consider every involountary movement as beneficial. TRE calms down and rebalances our nervous system. When we release the residual charge of the uncompleted stress response cycles from the past, we become more relaxed and our brains start detecting safety instead of danger. The body can then function optimally, digestion improves, inflammation reduces and energy levels increase. You will become less reactive and more able to remain graceful under the pressures of modern life. Immediate benefits of TRE include sense of deep relaxation, feelings of openness in the body and improved sleep. TRE also brings us closer to the experience of our bodies and enhances the sense of aliveness, which in everyday life manifests as happiness, joy and richer connections to self and others. TRE, once learned, can be used on a regular basis as a self-directed practice. Sessions are open to anyone 18yo+.
